During Anti-Poverty Week, all Australians are encouraged to organise or take part in an activity to highlight or overcome issues of poverty and hardship here in Australia or overseas.
It was established in Australia as an expansion of the UN’s annual International Anti-Poverty Day on October 17. In 2015, Anti-Poverty Week is taking place from the 11th to the 17th of October, and in the ACT will focus on issues of housing affordability.
Anti-Poverty Week aims to:
YWCA Canberra is supporting Anti-Poverty Week 2015 by contributing to the Green Paper Safe & Well – Redefining the Affordable Housing Crisis, running an educational food relief drive in School Age Care facilities across the ACT and with a Mini-Expo on Emergency Relief Services at the Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre
