Children’s Services

Providing care and education for your child in the heart of the community

YWCA Canberra has been providing quality early childhood education and care to the Canberra community since the 1970s. We now run six early childhood services, school age care at 15 locations and family day care services.

We see early childhood education and care as an essential service to enable women to fully participate in the economy, and as an opportunity to promote children’s holistic development.

We believe in developing community throughout the Canberra region. Fees for our children’s services contribute to supporting our community through housing programs, community development, youth engagement, and education to prevent domestic and family violence.

Our program directors work collaboratively with our community services team to identify and refer children and families that require additional support. This is part of our commitment to ensuring all children and families are supported to participate fully in our community.

ACT Government has announced a snap lockdown commencing 5pm Thursday 12 August. We want to reassure our community that YWCA Canberra’s services will continue to be available to those who need them during this lockdown period.

All our Children Services programs are continuing to operate for children of essential workers. Parents of children enrolled in our services will receive direct communications about how to access their services and the measures in place to support essential workers during lockdown. If you have any concerns or questions, please email, or call your Centre as usual.
