Help us build up the Canberra community by joining us for breakfast on Thursday, 29 April at the Ainslie Football Club.

Our annual Great Ydeas Innovation Breakfast provides an opportunity for our members, supporters, partners and friends to come together to show their support for YWCA Canberra’s housing initiatives, showcase our 2021 Great Ydeas Small Grant recipients, and celebrate the YWCA movement.

We know the power of innovation in social change, which is why we run programs like Great Ydeas and RentwellIt’s also why all money raised from our breakfast will go towards our own great ydeaour innovative new YHomes program.

At YWCA Canberra, we believe that housing is a human right, and that everyone deserves safe, affordable and appropriate housing so they can thrive. Sadly, too many Canberra women are lacking this basic requirement, especially older women, who are the fastestgrowing cohort of homeless people in the ACT.

That’s why, through YHomes, we plan to build ten units on land we own in Ainslie. These homes will literally construct a better future for Canberrans by providing appropriate, affordable housing for older women and women experiencing family violence, who are homeless or in housing crisis in Canberra. We are hoping to start construction on this ambitious project this year.

By attending our breakfast, not only will you be among the first to hear about our plans for the project, but you will also be helping us build better lives for women in need.

All funds raised from the breakfast will go towards supporting YHomes projects to help us increase the availability of affordable housing for women.
